Position Overview:
The Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care and support to clients receiving detoxification and crisis stabilization services. This role involves assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care for individuals with behavioral health and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Assessment and Monitoring
Perform nursing assessments upon admission, including physical and mental health evaluations.
Monitor clients for withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, and adverse medication reactions.
Document findings in the medical record and communicate changes to the medical team.
Medication Administration
Administer prescribed medications, including MAT (e.g., Suboxone, methadone) and other treatments, in accordance with protocols.
Monitor and document medication effects, including adverse reactions.
Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations.
Crisis Management
Provide immediate nursing care to stabilize clients experiencing acute psychiatric or medical crises.
Collaborate with medical staff to implement emergency interventions when necessary.
Care Coordination
Work with the interdisciplinary team, including behavioral health technicians, counselors, and medical providers, to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.
Assist in discharge planning and provide education on post-crisis care and resources.
Documentation and Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
Adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies and procedures.
Client Support and Advocacy
Provide compassionate care that respects the dignity and autonomy of each client.
Offer education and support to clients and families regarding their treatment and recovery plans.
Facility Support
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of nursing areas and equipment.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Licensure
LPN: Active and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse license in North Carolina.
Experience
Prior experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or crisis care is preferred but not required.
Certifications
CPR and First Aid certification (required).
Crisis prevention and intervention training (preferred; must complete within 30 days of hire).
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency with EHR systems and documentation.
Compliance
Clear criminal background check and drug screening.
Adherence to all facility policies, including HIPAA and safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist clients with mobility as needed.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
